Dr. George Belbey

George Belbey graduated UVa in 1986 as an Echols Scholar, with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Biology and Anthropology. He completed a year of studies in Animal Science at Cook College of Rutgers University before attending the College of Veterinary Medicine at the Ohio State University, graduating with honors in 1991.

Thereafter, George completed a one year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Oradell Animal Hospital, a 25 doctor referral practice in Oradell, New Jersey. He returned to Charlottesville in 1992 and practiced as an associate for Old Dominon Animal Hospital before founding the James River Animal Hospital in Scottsville in 1996. He practiced high quality small animal medicine in his Scottsville hospital for 23 years. In June, 2019 he embarked on a new vocation as a house call veterinarian, establishing James River Animal Housecalls.
